Quote from: angry turnip on Jun 24, 2026, 16:46Well I had wondered about all the extra`s the VC-25 has,or is rumoured to have,I was surprised when it was announced the "new" aircraft was ready-I was expecting it to take another 2-3 years.
Perhaps 92-9000 has`t flown it`s last trip after all.

Yes and apparently this 'new' one will only be in use for two years, then it'll go to the Trump Library...

That`s pretty alarming-sounds like Boeing have designed another crock of poo that is going to be dangerous to fly and heavily over budget. All this Boeing self certifying their aircraft rather than the independent FAA has meant quality control has gone backwards.

The MOD should look elsewhere, possibly building an aircraft under license.

Also reports the new plane can only/will only be used within continental US.  Reason being, there would not have been enough time to retro fit it with all the features that the current air frame has (which was built to purpose I believe) - CMS phones (White House TS//SCI,) ballistic glass, armour plating, High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) shielding, AN/ALQ-204 Matador lenses, among other things.

And then there's the A2A refuelling capability, which is difficult to retrofit to a plane and the time it would take to flight-test an airframe after such modifications had been made.

They are considered a "serious" airworthiness risk
Boeing failed to hand over data
It can't fly in the rain
sustainment of the aircraft classed as "high risk."

I agree, its very bland, it is not anything special--I`m surprised DT was allowed to change from the traditional colour scheme.
Doubtless when his time is up,it will be repainted back to how it should look.
