Update on this, according to people on board it was a cabin pressure issue. Info Via FB NI plane spotters group

It appears to be a bit more than engine spares, it's a shortage of airframes which makes a bit more sense.
I believe there are some Hawk T1's in storage at or near RAF Shawbury in the midlands.

Old Engines ???

The BAE Hawk T1 has a slightly modifed RR Adour engine which gave better performance for aerobatic manoeuvres over the standard engine, or at least I think I read that somewhere, yonks ago.

The more modern versions use the  Rolls-Royce Turbomeca Adour Mk. 951 turbofan, I would have thought the remaining  Reds aircraft could be upgraded.

Sky News maybe talking out of their Daily Mail, if you get my drift. ;)

UK - Ireland Airshows and Events / RIAT Cancelled
Last post by sneaky_nikon - May 22, 2026, 11:32
Probably anticipated but RIAT has been officially cancelled due to ongoing ops at Fairford.

From the Tattoo FB page.

QuoteWe're very sorry to let you know RIAT will not be taking place this year.
We know how much the event means to so many of you—our visitors, volunteers, partners, and the wider RIAT community. We fully recognise how disappointing this news will be.
The whole team at Douglas Bader House, and across the wider organisation, has worked tirelessly over the past 10 months to bring this year's show to life. We have had to take this difficult decision following extensive discussions with the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force regarding uncertainty over access to RAF Fairford, given the ongoing situation in the Middle East.
We'll be in touch again by the end of May with details regarding your RIAT26 tickets. At that point you will be offered three options:
· Roll over your tickets to RIAT27
· Request a full refund
· Donate the value of your ticket to the RAF Charitable Trust
In the meantime, you can find further information and updates on our website and FAQs page: https://www.airtattoo.com/
Thank you for your loyalty and ongoing support as a member of the RIAT community. It genuinely means a great deal to us.
We remain fully committed to bringing RIAT back in 2027, and very much look forward to welcoming you then.

Maybe a silly question, but why would you build a Spitfire nowadays?  Sorry if it's mentioned in the article, which clearly I haven't read.
