Has anyone any advice for viewing round Brize Norton? I'm planning to swing by while on my way to Southampton with the kids. Not a full on spotting trip just a Pitstop along the way with the kids. I had a look at Google trying to see where I can stop but dint want to annoy any locals or get moved on by RAF police etc.

Thanks AT. On another note are the B-52's still on deployment at RAF Fairford? Seeing its only 30 mins up the Road I wonder if it's a possibility to get a glimpse and fingers crossed something arriving or departing. I know it's not in constant use. I was told that there's a couple of U-2s stationed there at present.

I honestly don`t know, but I did read there was to be a B-52 at the Farnbourgh Air Show, but I don`t how long for.

The detachment that were at Fairford have probably returned to US, but there must be at least one about for Farnbourgh.

Flypast at Farnbourgh Wednesday 24th July at 1607 and Friday 26th at 1453 assuming they don`t get it confused with Blackbushe Airport. ;D

During yesterday's departures at Fairford it was mentioned by the Planes TV guys that the B-52 that arrived on Friday was understood to be staying until the end of this week.

There was one U-2 flying at the show, I think there was one on static as well.

The U2 Demo on Friday was the same aircraft used for static on Saturday and Sunday.  However a 2nd U2 arrived on Friday afternoon too. It was a fully kitted up operational U2 having left Fairford early Friday morning on an operational tasking.

B52 arrived Fairford on Wednesday, departed yesterday for FIA. I was very surprised how open the B52 was this year, no cones or rope. Opened up to let everyone walk around and under the bomb-bay doors. But at least it didn't kill 26 runway lights this year after last years escapade lol.

I think in total 3 U2s were based at Fairford at the weekend as apparently another one took off late Thursday/very early Friday too and was noted on the movements sheet to be arriving back to Fairford after the grounds closed for the evening.
