Not sure if a thread on this has been started before..but here are a couple to start off with..

This is something that you need to be careful with-some airlines don`t mind people taking photos on board, but some are very strict about not allowing it.
Take off and landing shots seem to be the main bone of contention,as they sometimes consider a camera an electronic device, and therefore don`t allow their use during these phases.
Certainly I could understand if it was a cameraphone being used.
I took some video on a flight 5/2/2011 coming back from Rome to BFS over the Alps with Aer Lingus, but I asked first and was told it was OK.
Might upload it here if I can figure out how do it and if it`s any good :-\
-
Hi Angry, I should have made this clear in the first post, permission was granted for the photos.
Cheers, Steve.
-
Thought I would add a few of my favourite shots. :)
1) Heathrow
2) Delta 767 taken over the English Channel
3) Crossing 22R at JFK as Cargolux 747 lines up
4) Lower Manhattan as the sun sets, taken en route IAD - LHR

That 767 shot is fantastic.

When was the Sea World one taken? I was there many years ago (1993) and it certainly didn't look like that, from what I can remember - alot of new additions by the look of it :)

Taken within the last couple of years from a (Robinson?) helicopter. They have added coasters etc, in recent years.
Cheers Stevie.

I've been trying some long exposure shots during flights at night, I have thought up of a little plan to get such shots in the future, but it involves buying several lens hoods and cutting them up ;D

All of these super pictures taken from inside aircraft and not one of them crashed so why are the Cabin Crew always saying to switch them off???
Basically the CAA want to discourage people using any sort of electrical device when an aircraft is taxiing, taking off,or landing.
The risks are a bit of an unknown quantity, but its meant to be in our best interests so I reckon it`s no great hardship.
Some airlines do not allow photography of any sort at any stage of a flight,if in doubt ask permission.
-
I was told off by the senior on a Bmi baby flight that wearing my headphones during takeoff would affect the pilots instruments. I just smiled and said sorry. I didnt bother to tell her that hold the same licence as the guy up the front and she was talking bo!!ox ::)
-
So if it is Nonsense why do they do it, and risk aggravating a situation?
AERTANK
-
A few years ago the MYTHBUSTERS did an experiment on this sort of thing and no matter what the tried to do a mobile signal will not do anything to the electronics of an aircraft they did use all sorts of microwave tech but nothing happened. After a talk with the F.A.A they said it was just a precautionary measure. All electronic equipment has a shield around the cable.
-
I do think the 'affecting the instruments' argument is a bit of waffle - but if anything were to happen during the take-off / landing and the aircraft crashed, then cameras, camcorders etc could become dangerous items flying around the cabin - possibly injuring other passengers in the process.
I would imagine that is why they request you put them away until the flight is safely airborne.

Nice shot-you can clearly see the ejection seat test rocket sled track on 01/19 which is nearest the shoreline.

anyone know Langford well ?? Iv seen these 2 objects/structures iv ringed every time i look at Langford in google earth and always wondered what they are ? airfield related or farmer related ?

I wouldn't know, but I'd take a speculative guess at maybe a viewing/camera spots for when the rocket sled, ejection seat mule is being used? Any footage I have seen of ejection seat tests at Langford lodge all seem to be taken from those two vantage spots.

I might be a little early with 1990 but can't find a definitive reference.
Pre-1991 anyhow as I don't see any construction work on the M3 cross-harbour link.

You can see the line of the old ( lifted ) railway line really clearly in that photo, delinieated by trees and running in front of Scrabo hill and curving towards Comber.
To the north ( right ) the line curves towards the viewer and runs through the built-up area of the town between the two clusters of Bombardier factory units in the lower right. Every road it crosses used to have a bridge! All now destroyed except one off Victoria Avenue.

Fantastic shot! Daytona (Feb race) is my favorite race of the NASCAR season.
In relation to the pit area, yes, it is massive. You sometimes get the majority of the field (up to 42 cars) cutting in at the last second to pit on a yellow flag which can be chaos at times. Plenty of pit lane smashes too recently!!
You also have to love the flyovers that happen at every NASCAR race :D

Not taken by me, but I noticed a 'stock' placeholder photo on the EGAA website and was surprised to see it hyperlinked to a larger version. Appears to be a view of the airport during early arrivals for the G8 conference :D
Japanese B744 left foreground, Russian Il-96 at extreme right on the RAF side and a Merlin on the next apron behind it. Pair of Pumas between them?
Then a pair of Chinooks hiding on the grass beyond that. Look straight 'up' from them and there are a pair of Merlins apparently airborne.
Possibly the Russian T204 rear-quarter just beyond the TNT B734.

The foundation presented unusual problems. Tests showed a three-foot (one-meter) limestone shelf 118 feet (36 meters) below the surface. The layers below that were silt overlaying bedrock at a depth of 160 feet (49 meters). Core borings revealed petrified wood, carbon-dated to be 25,000 years old.
It was decided that the massive VAB would rest upon steel pipe pilings, 16 inches (41 centimeters) in diameter and 3/8 inch (10 millimeters) thick, driven into the limestone bedrock. The foundation contractor spent six months driving 4,225 pilings through the upper limestone layer. When the job was complete, 128 miles (206 kilometers) of steel pipe had been buried.

Not technically great, but flying over Cape Canaveral and the Vehicle Assembly Building, courtesy of Sir Richard, and a 747-700 (I really should remember which one...think it was G-VROM)...

Quite an engineering masterpiece Smudge!

Look straight 'up' from them and there are a pair of Merlins apparently airborne;
Smudge your eyesight is excellent, while I can't see them in the pic , I can confirm they arrived as a pair... I photographed them.

I have heard from quite a few people about the junction of Crumlin Road,Manse Road and Largy Road outside Crumlin that leads to Langford Lodge.
Several sightings have been made of WW2 US Troops guarding the railway bridge at the start of the Largy Road.
Not sure what to make of it,but I think it is interesting.

An Emirates A380 seat mean that you don't have to look out the window for pictures any more. The screen is bigger than my first TV. Holding for departure RW 30 at DBX

Nice shots! Also a heli airborne over the runway in the second one.
