Helichallenge 2009 St Angelo 19th & 20th September
« on: September 15, 2009, 11:43:48 AM »
http://www.enniskillen-airport.co.uk/

This weekend there is a 2 day event on at St Angelo, the 'Helichallenge2009'

I believe it involves helicopters having to perform a series of challenges like hooking objects on the skids, or possibly time events a bit like the red bull air races - not sure really - but I am heading down to it all the same (sunday)
Sounds like fun !
Does anyone else have any more info about it?

St. Angelo's website has next to nothing about it other than the fact that its on  :(

Would definitely be interested in going.

??? Is there access for the public at this or is it a private event. I can't seem to get any info. Should I go to St Angelo or head in the other direction and see what finds its way to Aldegrove on Sunday?

Thank you for your enquiry regarding Heli Challenge. The Event is not an
official spectator event in that there is no entry fee to watch. There is
the picnic area which will be open to the general public and from this
vantage point you will be able to watch all the helicopter movements
 during the day.

 Hope this helps

At the moment we have 17 competing aircraft with 26 competing teams.
 Some will be sharing Aircraft.

The largest will be a Eurocopter EC135 and the smallest will be a Robinson
 R22. With everything in between.

We expect to also have a good sized number of other visiting helicopters
 who will not be competing.

From the feedback we are getting from local pilots Sunday should be a very
active day here at the Airport, both with visitors and competitors.

It should be an excellent helicopter spectacle.

Look forward to seeing you if you can attend.

 Regards
Certainly looks like a good event.

BAH !

I'm not free on Saturday, but I would love to see that AND the harrier flypast at EGAA.
Did they happen to mention any times for the Helichallenge in your communication?

Mmmmmm. I wonder could we persuade the flypast from EGAA to do a wee detour to Enniskillen and save us having to choose. I'd love to see 4 harriers dropping flourbags and doing a wee slalom up the runway;D
