"And passengers on the starboard side of the cabin may now avail of a view of the crater Copernicus"

"Pleaase note there is a €50 charge for this service"

Very long shot to catch D-ABVN as DLH491 around 05:45 this morning, just before the rising Sun washed-out the Day Moon.

Ta!

A Delta 747 had just clipped the bottom of the Moon a few minutes earlier so it was a bit of a mad rush for the tripod and kit to catch DLH...

Excellent shot - great detail, Don. Your new lens is doing a great job.

It would be instructive if photographers would leave EXIF info in photos when publishing.

A couple of upcoming full Moon apparitions of interest:

16 October 2016: Super-Moon, perigee of 357,859 km at 23:37 UTC 19 hours after full-phase.

14 November 2016: Mega-Moon, perigee of 356,511 km at 11:24 UTC 2 hours before full-phase and closest approach of the 21st century.  But daylight here :(

Beautifully clear from Ards but nothing much happening yet.

Due to finish by 02:54 so I might go for a kip for an hour now.

~~

Quick montage straight from the camera, too tired right now to do any processing!

Nice shots-I went out and had a look around 2315ish and the shadow was starting but still a bit vague-it wasn`t that spectacular,or perhaps my expectations were too high :)

Nice 'triangle' of Venus, Mars and very-thin crescent Moon out to the west now

Aww it's just a baby Moon, two days after New!

Two Earth satellites, Moon and ISS, as seen in the same bit of sky at 20:04 this evening.  Nearly a hit, but not 'nearly' enough.

ISS in the top left corner.

Turned out to be good practice for Newcastle, eh?
