Not many details at the moment but pictures being revealed on Twitter.

Hope there are no fatalities. SFO currently closed.

Update 2026: Possibly a hard landing with tail fin missing. Passenger onboard tweeted a picture:
Update 2029: Reported that 290 onboard. Aircraft is a B777-200ER HL7742 delivered in 2006.

It's live on Sky news.... Tail is at the end of the runway and main fuselage is further down runway... Looks like it just made it onto runway 28L without ditching into San Francisco Bay. Thankfull it looks as if all passengers are accounted for.

What a miracle that all onboard survived! Reported 303 onboard: 290 with 1 infant and 12 crew. Early reports suggest that the ILS was put of service and the pilots did a visual with the PAPI blocked from view by construction equipment just speculation so far we'll just have to wait and see what caused the crash.

Looking at this on the news.

They're showing footage of a debris trail stretching from the sea wall to the runway. That suggests the tail hit the sea wall, possibly the reason it was snapped off.

Is all the fuel in a T7 in the wings? I always wonder how the cabins take so much fire damage as opposed to the wings?

I belive that is something called pareidolia (seeing shapes/faces in ordinary things) woodgrain,carpet patterns,clouds etc are common.

Looking at that video,I am surprised more were not killed,as the main fuselage seemed to get flung into the air on impact,it`s lucky the aircraft did not land upside down other wise I fear there would have been many more killed.

It does look as if the approach was too low,which caused a severe tail strike.

That image of the economy cabin looks awful, I imagine the most severely injured would've sat in the last few rows seeing the conditions of the seats all mangled like that, the forces must have been huge!

I saw this yesterday, a bit of a cover-up going on there! It's par for the course to tell lies and obscure the truth than to own up to a mistake.

In fairness to the firefighters,I am sure they didn`t intend to leave an injured person unattended,but this incident shows a lack of basic training skills,and leadership.

It seems ridiculous that none of the 5 firefighters that were near the girl did not check if she was alive,either way her location should have been clearly marked,and cordened off.
