Thanks for that-you beat me to it-hope the weather improves, very heavy rain and low cloud at the moment.

It doesn`t look like things are going to improve weather wise today until near dark.Heavy rain forecast for most of the day. :(

Looking at the BFS arrivals board there is a healthy gap between 1050 and 1220,but that is just me guessing.

got a 'tweet' back from BFS yesterday about the Canberra/Hunters viewing

We are just finalising logistics and will let you know as soon as this has been completed

Also, with the CWHM Lancaster due next Friday, wouldn't it be great if it was somehow 'delayed' by a day and arrived on the Saturday escorting the BBMF Lancaster home during Newcastle.... I know it will never happen. But one can dream lol.

I see someone posted on Down Festivals FB page that the 2nd Aircraft will arrive on the 7th August and both will be up flying on that day:

the second aircraft is due from Dublin on the 7th August and they will both be flying that day at Aldergrove. We do not know the time yet.

The other Vampire is SE-DXS a FB.6 variant.

LN-DHZ is a T.55,and has a Mickey Mouse motif on the nose.

Here are a few pics of mine of them at RAF Leuchars 2012 to give an idea of what to expect-they fly in close formation. :)

I am correcting my above post - It is not known if the sortie will be in Newcastle on the 7th. I may have misread into the statement on down festivals FB page.

No fly past in or out this year? If they do have one, looks like on the way into NI however their arrival time at Aldergrove is during the airshow

I see the Sea Fury had a Emergency Landing at Air Show today. Not sure if it was meant to be at Newcastle next week but seems like it landed and the undercarriage collapsed.

No, seafury isn't scheduled. The seafire ( not sure if its the same one due in Newcastle)  is though and it pulled out of the same show today (not sure as to why)

The seafury apparently also had an engine issue during its display that brought about the emergency landing in the first place, so it seems like a double dose of bad luck today for it.

Sad to see that-especially as the Sea Fury has only recently returned to flight after extensive work.
Looks like it had an engine problem, and then just to compound the problems, the undercarriage collapsed upon landing-I don`t think we shall be seeing that Sea Fury in the sky for a while. :(

Is this the same Sea Fury that was at Newcastle last summer?

No,that was the single seat FB.11 version marked as VR930(correct markings)-the aircraft involved in this incident is a T.20 two seat version marked as VX281.(G-RNHF)

The seafire is out of Newcastle, like I thought. They had hired the SeaFury to replace it, however the above happened.

Quote
As always as we approach the Air Display the programme starts to change. Time therefore to bring you up to date.

Seafire There is doubt about the serviceability of the Seafire at the moment, due to lack of compression in an engine cylinder . Yesterday we rearranged the programme to cover for this using the RN Seafury. Unfortunately that aircraft had an incident at RNAS Culdrose yesterday afternoon- back to the drawing board.

Midair Squadron Some of you will have noticed that the Squadron has not flown a 3 ship yet as its second Hunter is not ready. Fortunately the Squadron has decided to lease a second aircraft to fulfil the commitment to provide 3 aircraft to the B/E Aerospace Festival of Flight. (XL573 or WV372). We will be only the second event to actually see a 3 ship this year.

Soon Newcastle residents will notice that the building indicated in the picture by the star has turned white. This is because we use this building to identify a display axis to the pilots; our grateful thanks to the quarry owners for their permission to do this.

The Belfast Boys formation has been agreed. We will tell you more about it soon, if you have not guessed who it is yet.

The Norwegian Vampires have agreed to join the Classic Jet Vewing at Aldergrove Airport on Sunday morning 10th August. Expect the BIAL web site to go live on Monday. The Vampires will also be flying a sortie from Aldergrove next Thursday (WX permitting!) It has not yet been decided where this sortie will be.
