From Down Festivals website

It is planned that the Vampire 2 ship press flight will come down to Newcastle tomorrow afternoon 7th August at about 2-3 pm.
These arrangements are subject to weather and the successful arrival of the second aircraft from Dublin tomorrow lunchtime. Watch this site for updates tomorrow.

Latest forecast has the rain holding off until about half way through the show with sunny and 1% cloud cover.

http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/twoforecasts/7-day-weather-forecast.aspx

That forcast appears to be for London,or am I reading it wrongly?

This one doesn`t look too promising.

or this one,

Oh, you have to put the postcode in for Newcastle. When going to the page for the first time it seems the default is London. Sorry, never thought of that. BT33 is the Newcastle postcode.

Sorry about that!

No problem-forecasts could be wrong, but I haven`t seen much in the way of good news on the weather front so far.

Seems rain will spread in from the West late morning and there is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Still it won`t put me off, unless it really empties. :-\

I'm into the weather a bit (especially storms) and so I use weather models to form my own forecast much of the time rather than using sources like the BBC. Usually I find that the weather forecasts on the TV and online tail behind what the weather models currently show.

The weather models at this time currently show a spell on rain on Friday evening with this clearing through to the east overnight into Saturday morning. In general, it should become brighter by lunchtime - but with the lifted index being around 0 to -1 this means that heavy showers will likely crack out from lunchtime onwards. Shows will generally become more organized as the afternoon goes on - but with clear slots in between I would think.
Upper level winds are generally from the SW on Saturday and this usually means that any showers that form over the Irish Midlands will tend to track NE towards Co.Antrim. Though lately, I've found that in thundery scenarios a lot of the activity has been to the west of Lough Neagh and this may well happen again.
One thing that Newcastle has is the Mourne's nearby and they can assist cloud formation and strengthen showers due to orographic effect (air rising up over the mountain slopes). This could make cloud cover / showers more prevalent there than in other areas in the east of NI.

Taking all that into account though, I see it as a 50/50 situation where if we are lucky, a good part of the afternoon may avoid showers. But always with showers nearby! I'll make a final call on it when I see the weather model output on Friday evening and see what the situation actually looks like on Saturday morning.

Really want to go to the show as there is a possibility I think, that this will be our last chance to see the Vulcan fly here.

Looks like lolar is out of Newcastle due to a fault with the no2 engine.  This is from their Facebook page, pity!

While this is no way confirmed (there is a big mistake in the article) it mentions that XL573 will be the Hunter to join with the Midair Squadron for the 3ship in Newcastle. Since there is a glaring mistake I won't be posting it to the FB page given the mistake highlighted.

http://www.adsadvance.co.uk/canberra-pr9-will-be-joined-by-two-hawker-hunter-t7s.html

Quote
Participating in its first air show in Northern Ireland this year, the world's only airworthy Canberra PR9 will be flanked by two silver Hunter T7s. This is the first display of its kind for the Midair Squadron.

Midair Squadron display partners Canberra PR9 (XH134) and Hunter XL577 will be accompanied by Hunter XL573 for Festival of Flight in Newcastle, Northern Ireland. This is the first time these vintage jet aircraft will perform with all three aircraft in matching silver livery.

The problem is, XL573 is not in Silver.. Which is why I am not posting it. I also can not find this interview anywhere else but this website.

This youtube video seems to show that the RAF have spiced up the Typhoon displays a little. Always thought they should change the routine as it was getting a bit long in the tooth seeing the same moves over and over again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ-QvQmjHlA

Hope they do something similar for Newcastle.

I've really enjoyed this years Typhoon display at various shows. Last years felt a bit lacking (though some have said it was the best they have ever seen of the Typhoon) Maybe it was because the Pilot stayed a good bit out and was not as close as 2012.

Still hoping for the D-Day stripes over XXX tail.

I personally thought that last years Typhoon display had the least amount of burner I had ever seen from a Typhoon :-(

The video above seems to show much more burner back in action :-)

Wouldn't it be great if we managed to get a clear slot for the Falcons. This video has wet my appetite :-

Yeah, that was one thing I noticed. I waited forever to get a shot with the burners on full.

I am absolutely shocked at how much the FB group has taken off (pun intended) It was set up mostly for family and friends and everyone on here to see what was coming as Down Councils hadn't announced anything yet (though we knew from schedules etc) ... tonight we just hit 1800 people.

I am trying my best to make sure we do not make out we are an official page, even though it is stated that we are unofficial and not connected and just for information, so I will reference Down Councils links or what they have stated when asked questions. But bloody heck, the message box and notifications are going into overtime lol. I think I have typed 'According to Down Festivals (or Councils) official programme' about 1000 times this week lol.

Information about the B/E Newcastle festival of flight air show held in Newcastle Co Down 8th-10th August 2014. air-show is set for 9th August 2014.
This is how the 'About' displays on the front page. Maybe you should say something in there about being the unofficial page :)

Information about the B/E Newcastle festival of flight air show held in Newcastle Co Down 8th-10th August 2014. air-show is set for 9th August 2014. Please note this page is not maintained by Down District Council but local aviation enthusiast's and is not an official DDC page. Please note - Aircraft line ups are subject to change.

The main about section is limited to only a few words and you have to put extended info in below it. The new changes to FB have screwed some things though :(

It should become brighter this afternoon (but with showers) so I would hope everything can make it over.

As for tomorrow, the current model output I'm looking at shows that the showers may potentially be focused more on northern County Antrim and Fermanagh / Tyrone. Elsewhere, the showers do not look as frequent with sunny spells and scattered showers. This could all change of course.
Tonight and tomorrow morning's model output should firm things up a little more.

The two Hunters are meant to be XL577 (G-BXKF) and XL600 (formally G-VETA)

http://www.midair-squadron.com/

XL600 is actually out of permit at the moment and the word was that it was going to be replaced at the display with either XL573 (G-BVGH) or WV372 (G-BXFI)

In fact I just found another post stating that it's going to be XL573 that's standing in.

Any word on the radio frequencies?

No one seems to know, Newcastle have always been secretive about what frequencies they use as opposed to Portrush who always made these public.
