Some great action pics despite the weather. Were you at the Western end of the runway? I had never been spotting at Dublin before hence stuck to the common mounts at the Eastern end of the runway in use. I had the odd bit of bright (not sunny) conditions.

Still I can pull some positives out from the dull experience at Dublin regarding photos in dull conditions. Rather than trying to get brighter photos with a slower shutter speed, increase the the shutter speed and go with the slightly darker but sharper shots.

I can see you had much better lighting conditions than I had today-It really was very dull this morning with heavy overcast and drifting fog:not even a hint of the Sun let alone blue sky.

I had to use 400ASA and slow shutter(1/200th or less) speeds to achieve anything worth keeping.Still Dublin is a good place to go but recently as I mentioned the airport authority seem to be trying to make this difficult for photography ie new fences and lighting.

Some excellent shots despite the weather. One question - how do you get to the airport? Car, bus, train?

When you click 'Reply' or 'New Post' just below the text window there is 'Additional Options'. Click this and you will see an option to attach images.

I personnally went down with a friend in his car although it is possible to get the Dublin Airport bus down and walk from the terminal. I believe it's around a 20 minute walk although better weather is probably required to do so.

Just looking at Translink's fares and it's only £15.40 return to Dublin Airport. Definitely cheaper than going by car. Might just look into a few day trips this year :)

No problem...... I know how much of a trip can be wasted getting around if you don't have your car..Spent my youth cycling around like demon after aircraft... ;D.. And if the wind changes the active runway it can completely ruin your day..... :'(    Hope to meet some of you all in the coming year......

I usually drive down-great road from outside Newry-our side of the road development seems to be woefully behind what the South have done!

There is a road that runs the length of the runway and beyond-parking spaces are few and far between but I feel the car is essential for picnic or weather reasons.

As mentioned alot of new fencing has gone up recently >:(-probably due to the few incursions at Shannon.

Aircoach .ie also do it which are good value-coach stops at Sprucefield,Banbridge and Newry-I think it leaves you at the airport and then goes into the city-you can get off just past the airport I think-don`t quote me though!

Theres a Belfast - DSublin bus every half hour. I think Air Coach is every hour on the hour, whilst Ulsterbus /Bus Earann (joint service) leave every hour  at half past. I use them often when flying out of Dublin. Only problem is the traffic near Newry is hectic due to road works. Miles of traffic, with some idiots cutting the traffic using the hard shoulder. When in the traffic, which is at stand still, the buses will drive half on the hard shoulder, half in lane, in order to prevent people cutting past the traffic.

There are two spotting humps there, the first one closest to the terminal has been ruined by the mentioned higher fence, yet the 2nd place 2 minutes walk down the walk has not been effected by the new fence and offers some great views of departures and arrivals. I recommend going down, it's like a mini Manchester there.

Hehehe I saw the same aircraft afew days before. The slogans always make me chuckle. One aircraft that keeps escaping me in the Ryanair Dreamliner! You didn't see it by any chance? Appartently it's been into Belfast City airport afew times. My dream oddly is to get a good photo of this aircraft :)

Ryanair Dreamliner!
Never heard of it until now. Just looked it up and that's a very nice colour scheme.

I saw the Dreamliner once-departing BHD as I was driving past on my way to Bangor-was working so no camera.

I wonder if it is the Dreamliner does that make all their other aircraft "Nightmare Liners"? ;D

Ryainair used to have more Logo Jets-There is one used for evacuation training at Dublin-you can see it on the far side of the ramp near the tower.

They had Jaguar,The Simpsons,Killkenny Stout,Vodaphone,Cable +Wireless and I few others when they still operated the old 737 230ADV`s.

The ex-Ryanair fire training 737 can be seen in the background. Very colourful. I have a better pic of it somewhere but I'll find it later.

I've only seen the Ryanair Dreamliner once myself but it was 6am last Januray when flying out to Finland with Ryanair. She had an all white replacement nose cone and the conditions were too dark to photograph. As long as shes not reapinted soon then we still stand a chance of seeing her again. Below is the lady herself, courtesy of a good friend of mine, Paul Nichols.

A bit late to be asking this but where about were you when you got those photos? Is there a place to park there at the runway 10 end?

Damn, I had forgotten you live so close, I'm heading down tomorrow but again, I've left everything too late to organise :D

I'm sorry to hear about your son. How's he doing now?

Dublin was great and the weather was indeed fantastic. Saw some nice aircraft as well ranging from all the Aer Lingus A330's, including the newest one which was infact yesterday damaged by an air bridge, a jet2.com 757 fresh out of the paint shop with retrofit winglets and the Etihad A330.

Next time I will let you know in advance when I'm heading to Dublin, it would be nice to meet up!

Regards,

Dave
