EGAA - 29-5-09
« on: May 29, 2009, 04:01:42 AM »
So it's currently 4am, and I havn't slept yet. Just waiting to head off to Aldergrove to catch the cargo heavies. I'm expecting to catch the Globespan 767, DHL A300, TNT A300, some other cargo 767 I can never remember the name of, and the Thomas Cook A330.

Currently it's foggy outside although clear weather 'was' meant to be predicted, hopefully it'll be clear by 5.45am when the first of those listed will be arriving.

I'm insane, I know, especially having been at BHD 6 hours ago but this is hardcore spotting  ;D

It is indeed. It's now 05:56 and I'm feeding the baby so enjoy your spotting. Look forward to seeing the results.

::) Weather was flipping miserable. It started out nice and sunny, but the sun was just about producing backlit shots :( And then the clouds came out on what was supposed to be a bright clear morning. Didn't get one decent shot :(

BFS just isn't worth the effort for me anymore. It's just too far to go when trying to rely on weather forecasts. I'll try again later on in the year although early morning shots are quite hard as the Sun doesn't come around far enough until 7 or 8ish.

Ah well, what can you do  :)

Abit dark unfortunately. I used to do a bit of fishing myself, although more lake fishing, I never could get the hang of fly fishing on rivers.

BFS is just disappointing, all the decent aircraft arrive mainly when photography is nearly impossible, e.g. early morning or middle of the night. It's about time Easyjet got some 757's or something  ;D

I caught the TNT but the resulting photos of it wern't the best  >:( By the time they appeared out of the fog and cloud, they were gone 10 seconds later so it didn't give a huge amount of time to photo them. Also the A300's and 767's are a tad too big for the 100-400mm  :'( I should've used the smaller lens. Next time!

I'm determined to catch these cargo beasties some point this summer! The Maersk 767 didn't appear this morning.

Thanks for the heads up Simon, I think I'll subscribe to fboweb for a month and see what it's like.

if you want to get pics of the cargo stuff, your best bet is to get thm over the next month when they depart between 20.00 and 21.00:usually enough light to get some decent shots.

I have some good shots of them,I posted a few elsewhere on this site.

The Maersk B767 is operated by Star Air (Turkish)for UPS,not sure if it`s long  term charter or they just can`t be bothered to repaint it.
Some times they use an A300 which has a green/red ladybird on the tail-I have a shot of it somewhere also.

LIght early in the morning to 25 is almost in your face so decent pics are tricky and not worth getting up so early.

Haven`t seen the Air Atlantic Lockeed Electra or Convair 440 in this year.

There's no where really to catch the take off's in the evening unless the sun's in a good position for the road beside the old BA Trident.

As for morning photos at Killead, probably not possible until 7.30 to 8ish :(
