It's an RAF decision then.

Given the fact that the area has been reduced they had no other choice.

That's similar to the FAA requirements for airshows in the USA, where a cleared box has to be defined which can't include local residents.  Easier for them, I suppose, given lower population desntities near big bases but also a reason that lake-side shows are so popular.

I had no idea so much local housing, businesses and major roads had been built in the two years since the last Farnborough show  ::)

This is rubbish, the CAA has overreacted yet again and ruined another show.

Well there was talk that this would be the last Farnborough show  :(

I completely agree-it is embarrassing, the Red Arrows are one of the most highly trained display teams in the world, yet they have been censored in this way, despite having their PDA for this season.
Farnborough is a showpiece for the worlds best pilots to display their aircraft, and for the UK`s iconic team to be restricted in this manner is a joke.

In regards to CAA, I mentioned before about the Swedish unable to display. They released a statement tonight

In regards to NI displays, 2 NI displays have been granted display line exemptions to go at 150ft. Team Raven for Newcastle, and Gyro for Portrush.

I'm thinking that airshows in the Republic could be about to become a LOT more popular given that they are not subject to CAA oversight (thank god).

So you believe the IAA will not be influenced by CAA decisions?

So they've let the low energy stuff in closer. Yay for that, we'll all just sit around and watch a gyro climb and descend for a few hours. Because it seems that everything else is going to be a flypast over the Skerries and that's it.

Ireland could develop itself a niche market here: airshows every other weekend with zero regulation!  ;D ;D
