10th Nov 1907 .... Louis Bleriot and his No.VII establish what will become the standard layout of an aircraft,ie covered fuselage,a monoplane,a single tail unit and a forward facing propeller.

10th Nov 1972 .... Southern Airways flight 49 was hijacked by three men and was flown to multiple locations in the US and one Canadian city.The aircraft`s tyre`s were shot out by the FBI as the plane was refueled at an USAF base in Orlando,the aircraft then took off and landed at a partially foamed runway in Havana Cuba,where the hijackers were captured trying to escape.

I believe I saw them operating from BFS in the mid 1980's, was there a close down & restart or more than one 'Dan Air' if their last commercial flight was 1980?

Just to confirm - it was Dan Air`s last flight using the DH106 Comet,Dan Air was bought over by BA in the early 1990`s for the nominal fee of £1.

Atthe time Canadair was owned by General Dynamics and the parent company proposed grafting-on the nose of the Convair CV-880 to give a consistent brand-image.  It also looked a bit sportier.

GD paid $660 million in 1985 for control of Cessna and the McAuley propellor subsidiary.

When it came to 1992, Dassault was in the bidding against Textron as they really wanted the Citation line as the entry-level supplement to the Falcons.  But Textron outbid them at $600 million...

Inflation Calculator says that $660 million in 1985 dollars would be $860 million in 1992, so it was a very poor outcome for GD; lost a quarter-billion dollars on that gamble:

21st Nov 1981.....Aeroflot is banned from flying to the US after an Aeroflot flight had flown over a number of US Military Installations,and had repeatedly strayed off it`s flight path to do so.

21st Nov 1989.....A British Airways Boeing B747 narrowly avoids crashing into the Penta Hotel near London Heathrow.
