Hello the name is Martin and I've recently join this forum. I occasionally do a bit of spotting up at Belfast City Airport, besides the bridge at Sydenham train station and Ikea is there anywhere else that provides a good view of the aircraft?

Hi Martin,
Welcome to the forum.

The two locations you've mentioned are probably the best ones for spotting at the city. Another spot to consider is the mound between the Ikea carpark and the perimeter fence, at the layby where the buses turn around.

You can also spot from Victoria Park but you'll be restricted to head/tail shots. Could be useful if you're looking for head-on take-off shots provided 22 is in use 

You can also spot from the north side of the airport however that is weather dependent (sun) and you are shooting from within an industrial area. Also a stepladder would be needed to clear the fence.

Another good spot is down at the Holywood boat club and Esplanande area near the Dirty Duck pub if Runway 22 is in use.

Turn left at the traffic lights after Kinnegar,under the railway bridge,and head down that road approx 500yrds until the road splits-the Dirty Duck Pub is at the split.
Parking usually isn`t a problem,but beware of dog crap around the area,because many of the dog walkers down there don`t seem to clean up after their pooches,they are too busy moaning about late flights into BHD.
