Both the Dunmurry-built DeLorean DMC-12 coupé and the popular Robinson R-22 helicopter have their original target sales price in the designation ( in thousands of US dollars ).

Neither achieved their target price, though!

DeLorean of course never needed a successor designation whilst Robinson cleverly turned their misnomer into a brand motif ( 22 / 44 / 66 ).
