Nice shots! I would have thought the Airport Police would have chased you from that location? Looks like you are very close to the boundary fence. :o

Yes you would, I don't suffer any more but I had a dose of hay fever on Monday night first time for a very long time.

I was up on Tuesday afternoon checking out the spot, when one of the FIRE pickup trucks pulled over on the perimeter road and called me over to the fence, I thought he was going to move me along, however he just wanted to let me know that I could also use the closed road (Tully Road) to get photos. :)

What did you do with regards to parking? Isn't that whole area a control zone?

I parked at Killead and walked the mile or so to the spot, is there anywhere nearer thats outside the control zone?

I can`t think of anywhere nearer other than Killead-you could take a chance parking up at the side of the road, but I suspect the Airport Police would take an interest and move you on.

It could become a problem if too many people use that spot-all it takes is one aircrew or Operations to report it,and the airport might take action.
I doubt if any aircrew would be concerned about photographers, but you just never know.

As far as I am concerned I always stay outside the boundarys, then I know I`m not going to get hassled.

With that in mind would it be worth approaching the Airport Police and asking them up front about it?

If we had their blessing then obviously that would solve any potential problems.

While I'd like to try the place out I wouldn't want to contribute to ruining it for everyone if too many people use it.

Just out of interest, what's the view like along Tully Road (if I remember correctly you can only access that from one end)?

The view from the Tully Road is very similar to that of Killead, you are much closer to the RWY though so the planes are just that bit lower.  I took almost all of these shots from the Tully Road.

The road can be accessed from both ends, on the north end of the road you simply climb over the small yellow 'Road Closed' barrier. The south end of the road is blocked by a large green barrier, however, there is a well worn path on the left hand side that goes round this, people often use it when walking their dogs, it's also handy to use if you park your car in the lay-by on the open part of the Tully Road. I would not recommend parking in front of the green barrier as this is just within the controll zone. (I have seen people parked here before while walking their dogs ::))

If you enquire from the Airport Police, they will refer you to Operations at Aldergrove and they will say no.

Personally I strongly advise against using the closed off area on Tully Road,I know of a few people that had cameras confiscated when taking photos inside that area.

You might be lucky and get away with it,but I would not chance it.The airport might really clamp down if they see people in those sort of area`s.

You can get good pics from Killead or the furniture shop area without risking getting hasseled by the Police/Operations.
While it is always good to find new or more interesting viewpoints,we all have to respect that there are certain places that are not permitted.
