Anyone watch this on BBC2 last night? If you missed it

Loved the part on the testing of the engine, especially the water gestation - start it up and pour 10,000 gallons per hour in to it.

Great programme,watched last night and was very interesting-more in the series next week which looks at military hardware.
 
I worked with a guy who worked at Rolls Royce Derby in the engine testing section and dispite the ear protection etc he was almost totally deef!  :(

I saw it last night..  It was a very interesting insight into what goes into a modern jet engine...
The test where they sheared a fan blade to see if the cowling would hold it was fairly amazing... :o

Yes, amazing programme. I was amazed that they constantly monitor the Trent engines currently in use around the world. Now thats what you call customer service!  8)  It's just as well the government helped Rolls Royce out back in the 70's when they almost went bankrupt. Thankfully they managed to create an engine for the Tristar. The aviation world would be boring with just one engine manufacturer.
 
On a side note, the 787 looks very gracefull in flight, especially with the bendy wings!
