An hour or two at Dublin (Thursday 18th November) - Pic heavy
« on: November 25, 2010, 02:41:32 AM »
I nipped down to Dubin last Thursday to collect the girlfriend from the airport. At the time, Belfast was getting nothing but heavy rain and winds so I didn't expect to get any photographs when down at Dublin. Myself and a friend decided to get to Dublin two hours before the arrival of "mrs dave" on the 11.35am Lufthansa fight from Frankfurt, just to enjoy watching the aircraft arrive and depart and maybe get a Burger King at one of the new Service Stops on the Motorway. Turns out the weather was nice and sunny during that time, just as well I brought the camera down with me in the car!  ;D

In the short space of time, there were a good few movements of smaller prop and business aircraft and probably for the first time (I'm not a business jet fan), I was quite pleased to catch many of the smaller stuff.

Pitty the flights are on Thursday instead of Friday, looks like the weathers not too bad looking for the Friday and Saturday. I'm sure there might be some sun on Thursday and mixed with the snowy grounds, will offer some fantastic photo opportunities :D Although I gather Dublins been closed for a few hours over the past few days!

Those Huskies and a Sledge might not be too far from reality.... :LOL

The weather is pretty bad down here at the moment with lots of snow and ice on the roads and more snow falling ....

so leave lots of time when/if you travel down tommorow and have a safe journey Dave...

Hopefully this might help your trip........ http://www.aaireland.ie/AA/AA-Roadwatch.aspx

Thanks for the heads up Don, we're currently watching all the curret delays and cancellations at Dublin. She has a four hour lay over at Frankfurt before flying onwards to Helsinki so she can afford a two or three hour delay. The weather seems to be slightly better tomorrow with 40% cloud cover and less precipitation. Fingers crossed! We're leaving Belfast at 6.00am tomorrow so that should give us plenty of time.  :-\

Well that was a crazy day today! We arrived at Dublin at 9am, had an hour of sun (with literally no aircraft movements), dropped the girlfriend off at the airport at 10am where she joined an already massive queue at the Lufthansa Check In. Her flight was repeatedly delayed until the airport closed and now finally seems to have been cancelled. Eight hours at the airport for her. Rotten!  :-\  She now has to resort out the flights for next week and get a bus up to Belfast again.

For the few aircraft I saw at Dublin, conditions were mixed. As mentioned, one hour of sun to begin with but nothing other than Ryanair movements at that point. Then the snow arrived with blizzard force. Very cold but I managed a few shots  ;D  Will edit them later, only edited one so far...

Great snap Dave, very festive.

A mixture of both pleasure (the pic) and pain (the cold)?  :)
