Dublin full of Diverted Aircraft
« on: December 18, 2010, 07:38:35 PM »
I have heard that DUB is now full of aircraft that couldn't make it into the UK due to the bad weather..

Among them are
  N830MH   B767   DAL40   MSP/LHR
  N795AN   B777   AAL116   JFK/LHR
  N762AN   B777   AAL98   ORD/LHR
  G-CIVM   B747   BAW196   IAH/LHR
  G-BNLP   B747   BAW182   JFK/LHR
And I have also heard of VIR251 (Shanghai/LHR) G-VNAP A340-600 landing too...

I think I will have to get out there tommorow  ;D ....

(Edit) I have just been sent this link....http://www.flickr.com/photos/38016434@N05/5271212067/#in/photostream/   :-X

With LHR closed for Sunday I don't think I will see any movements today.... :(

Quote
Heathrow Airport will not be accepting arrivals on Sunday, and will   only manage a handful of departures as our airfield team continues to   deal with the impacts of yesterday's bad weather and prepares the   airport for a full re-opening on Monday.
We are extremely sorry   for the disruption this will cause to passengers and airlines and we   stress that passengers must check with their airline before travelling to the airport. We will provide regular updates.
In   the last few minutes, we have listened carefully to the advice of our   airside operations team and have reluctantly judged that while   Heathrow's northern runway remains clear, the change in temperature   overnight has led to a significant build up of ice on parking stands   around the planes and this requires the airfield to remain closed until   it is safe to move planes around.

However there is always Monday.... ;D

Just went out to have a quick look at the full T2 today...
They are due to leave tomorrow from 9am so I might have to miss a day at work.... ::)    ;D

Lots of other aircraft parked around the place too...

A few of the shots from today...

It started out very cold (-7) and overcast.....

Then it warmed up a bit (-3) and the sun came out too  8)

About half past 3 they closed the main runway for de-icing and the aircraft used rwy34

No sign of the rest of the heavies leaving anytime soon and as i type this DUB is closed due to heavy snow.... ::)

Now I'm off to sit in the fridge until I thaw out.... :LOL
