When in Finland at the end of January, I managed to squeeze in half a day spotting at Helsinki Airport. However it was a bit of a nightmare as Helsinki Airport is spread out over a huge area and with unusual crosswinds blowing on the day, it was impossible to guess which of the 3 runways they would be using. Having wasted an hour at the normal spots, it was clear the cross runway was being used (quite rare) so we nipped to the terminal, parked the car, and ended up joining a good few other spotters on a bridge near the terminal. Apartently this was the first sunny day all month so the spotters were out in force.
 
Now this Finland.. in January... when there is a LOT of snow. The walkway on the bridge was covered in snow swept off the road, meaning when standing on the area where the walkway should be, you end up standing on 4 feet of snow leaving your feet at the same level as the top of the fence, leaving absolutely nothing between you and failing 20 feet below! Crazy times! Well worth the hour we spent there though, finally saw my first Boeing 717 belonging to Blue1, infact we saw several of them.

Thanks for the comments guys, it was only -5oC at the time, much warmer than the usual -25oC!
