Pondering New Lens
« on: May 27, 2011, 05:00:48 PM »
Looking at getting a new lens for the D60 but not sure which would be the better choice:

- Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM
- Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM

The 150-500 has good reviews and was initially my intended purchase until I came across the 120-400.

Suggestions welcome.

What are you hoping to use it for Dec? Mostly aviation photography nd if so, mostly at the airport, e.g. BHD, DUB, or mostly for contrail photographing?

I find myself constantly at 400mm on my Canon 100-400mm so I'd be a fan of the 150-500mm. I do like close up shots of aircraft although sometimes I can't even fit an aircraft into the frame side on at 100mm. I can't comment on quality of either lens but I imagine they'd be relatively close.
