Airbus A380

Was watching a show on Discovery Wings last night about the development of the new Airbus A380. What a machine, some of the figures were amazing - Nearly half a billion dollars per plane, each boogie in the under-carriage weighs 7 tonnes, each engine generates 35 tonnes of thrust, 500 miles of wiring and the list went on.

How the hell do they ever get something this complex off the ground? It just blows the mind.

I've seen the same show but I think it was a few weeks ago. One thing that stuck in my mind was the fact that the tail plane was over 100ft in span - more than the wingspan than some regional airliners.

And I know what you mean about them getting of the ground. The first time I saw a 747 take-off I couldn't believe it either.
