Aviation News / 11 dead following crash of UPS...
Last post by keegster - Nov 05, 2025, 22:05
At least 11 people were killed after a UPS cargo plane crashed during take off from UPS World Port, Muhammad Ali International Airport, Louisville Kentucky, on Tuesday evening.

The NTSB reported that CCTV surveillance footage showed the left engine of the aircraft "detaching from the wing during the takeoff roll".

Link to BBC Article

When I read that the left engine had come off during take-off, my first thought was that it sounds like a repeat of American Airlines Flight 191. That crash, which involved a DC-10 and happened at Chicago O'Hare in May 1979, was due to the left engine breaking off during the take-off roll and destroying the left wing hydraulics, making the plane uncontrollable :(

Haven't been able to find out why it diverted to BHX after holding for quite a while to get into BFS.
Only thing I can think of is the crew were out of hours and had to divert. As to what the issue was with landing at BFS, nothing reported to my knowledge.

Did anyone hear why G-JZBA diverted last minute to BHX? Over this week the above airframe has moved to Manchester and conducting flights. It had conducted several flights from BHX.

1721 N126MC (showing as a Maule-M7-235c with floats attached but I think it's actually a Beechcraft super king air B350) landed after turning around just of the Isle of Skye enroute to  (1531 departed BFS) Reykjavik.

It had arrived earlier from (Landed BFS 1436) Augsburg.

If it has decent shelter from the elements and some clean toilets, it would be worth a try.
Maybe a vending machine for tea, coffee and soup, as long as folk don`t leave their rubbish lying about to cause a FOD hazard.
