After much consideration I decided to go up today, there were a few items of interest, and the forecast wasn`t too bad either for us,or Scotland/Northern England.
I arrived around 12.30,later than I usually would, town was crammed, but Ramore car park only half full at best. The area in front of the Tennis Courts has been demolished, and I noticed part of Ramore head seemed to be open.
Mrs AT texted me about the cancellation`s,so I set up camp briefly to get my breath back,I spoke to a few people and they confirmed what was happening,I left for home again after 20mins,and it seemed as if a lot of others where doing the same.I was not prepared to waste more time, and then hear more aircraft had to scrub their displays.
I also noticed that this year programme featured a photo of a RAF Harrier with the RAF 100 Red sticker on it--misleading I would say,as they were retired in 2011.
This will definitely be my last Portrush Airshow, unless sunshine is 100% and they get something worth seeing. The idea of teaming up with the Scottish Airshow at Ayr should have been a good one,but it has backfired again, because we are only getting some aircraft, and we are sharing their cancellations.
There is no Plan B from the organisers, aircraft are not arriving here on the Thurs,or Fri as they used to do-nearly all are operating from Scotland.
It seems really unfair to those who want to support their local show, and pay out for B+B`s,Hotels, rental of campers etc and travel up just to be bitterly disappointed year after year.
