Dublin Airport - Best Location

Good evening folk,

planning a trip down to Dublin Airport for some photography, weather permitting over the christmas break
 

can anyone advise the best location?

There are a few good spots to use,the long stay car park parallel to the main runway is good,and you can climb up the bank to get a better view-not sure how much it is to park in there,but it`s secure.
There are other area`s around the airport,but be careful not to block any crash gates or access.
The USA flights usually come in early,mid morning is Ryanair Fest.Beware of the passing lorries and buses,that can ruin shots.

Doubtless if you search for EIDW spotters you will find some useful info.

At this time of the year with the sun low in the southern sky the only place for good photography is the south side of the main runway. On this road there is a layby below a grass bank, which is good for take off and landings. It can become very busy with no places available, but usually with patience there shall be somebody leaving. Beware climbing the bank as it is steep and can be very slippy. If you have a short 2-3 step ladder the additional height can be advantageous to avoid the top of the fence in take off pictures.

If it is cloudy you can get good on the ground shots of aircraft turning off the east end of the main runway fom the road on the north side of the main runway. Here you shall need your short step ladder for shots over the fence.

Now the second runway work is in progress the location on the west side of the short runway with landings from the north is no longer available.
