That`s quite an interesting article, it does seem like an odd choice to build and operate an aircraft specifically for the Red Arrows, which will not be in general RAF service.
Surely a large part of the Red Arrows remit is to promote the RAF and British Aircraft manufacturing, so to use an aircraft that is not in general RAF service strikes me as strange.
The Hawk T1`s and T1A`s used by the Reds are old tech without digital systems, and should really have been replaced several years ago.
From what I have read the T2 version is not suitable for formation aerobatics, mainly down to it`s different wing design, and the specific engine version it has.
