I think we should congratulate TTF and the rest of the people who are involved in putting this show together this year i think you all would agree that they have achieved more than anyone ever expected. This is the 10th year and it looks like it will be a fantastic event. lets hope that the weather is kind to us. A BIG THANK YOU

Hi All

I appreciate this is a bit off-topic but can anyone advise where the best locations are in Portrush to see the airshow and where are the best places to park to facilitate an easy return to Belfast? I'm pretty familiar with the town but haven't as yet been to the airshow. I went to go a couple of years ago when the A380 was there but the traffic was queued to Ballymena so I ended up turning around and going to the City Airport to see the A380 instead. This year I was hoping to take my 3-yr with me to the show (as he's mad on planes - although I'm not sure if that is a good idea!). Any advice would be welcome.

The lineup for the show looks superb. Well done to all those organising it.

Thanks!

M.

To be honest yo can see the display almost anywhere around portrush from ramore head along to portstewart. As for parking i'm not sure but i know that when i get a taxi they always go the back roads from portrush to coleraine i will post a picture of the route when i look it up on my map.

Hi String

Thanks for the map - it's much appreciated. My 3 year old doesn't sleep much after 6am so I shouldn't have too many problems getting there early. :) Really looking forward to it. I might park out a bit and just walk in.

Alternatively if you want you could park in Coleraine and get the train to Portrush.

I did this last year and it worked out fine. Be prepared to stand as it was packed both ways but it means you only have to get out of Coleraine which is a lot easier than getting out of Portrush  ;)

You could do what we done a couple of years ago. Park in the East Bay car park, it's easy to get a space. Keep a cooler box in the boot with plenty of grub. After the show either sit in the car or on the beach for an hour or so having dinner until the traffic quietens down.

I've always found that if you can leave 15 mins before the end of the last act you can get to your car and out of the car park with no problem at all.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll either walk in or else try the East Strand very early on and then leave beore the end. Just hope the weather holds up now!

Vulcan is out of this weekend's shows with a fuel leak. We don't think it will affect Portrush

It says on the Vulcan website that it will take a minimum of 3 weeks to fix the tank if all goes well, that puts the plane out of action for Portrush.

Forgot that standard procedure is to ground all variants of a given aircraft following a crash, not just the Red Arrows Hawks.

Read this morning that this is the first fatality amongst the Red Arrows for almost 25 years, last one was in 1988.

Well the Reds can fly as an 8 aircraft display, they did that at the last Enniskillen show. But having said that it was due to a broken bone and not a fatality. Professionals as they are I'd say it would be tough for them to continue the season after what has happened.

Good news on the Vulcan front, leaking fuel tank has been fixed and all being well it will be re-fitted by the weekend.  Its currently being stress tested incase there is any further weaknesses but the news is very promising.

Just in time for Portrush, phew.

It`s likely there could be a good deal of test flights and paperwork to complete, before the Vulcan is cleared again, and that could take time.

Haven't saw anything on the mod web site to say it was affected by the red arrow incident.
